First the good news: Jacob's size isn't as concerning to the doctor as it was last time. She said that he is weighing around 4 lbs 12 oz (which is slightly higher than the 90th percentile, but not so bad that she is concerned). She, again, explained to us that this is no indication of when he will arrive - early or late or right on time. Looks like he might just end up being a big baby!
The not-so-good news: Jacob's right kidney is larger than it was four weeks ago. (The left one is still dilated but not much more than it was last time). The doctor said that she is concerned because they cannot confirm what the obstruction is that is causing the dilation of the renal collecting system in the right kidney. So, she referred me to a specialist who is going to perform a more thorough ultrasound tomorrow afternoon. I am not sure if it is going to be a 3-D ultrasound, but that is a possibility. I am hopeful that we will get more specific answers tomorrow and from there we will be able to know what the course of action will be.
In other news, I also had a regular pre-natal appointment today. The doctor said that everything was good. I was worried that I might have a bladder infection because of some mild pain that I have been having in my lower abdomen, but thankfully my urine test came back clear so that is not the case. The doctor seems to think the pain is basic ligament stretching and nothing more. My blood pressure was good at 120/84 and I have gained 4 lbs., for a total of 19 lbs. I was worried that 4 lbs. was a bit much for two weeks, but the doctor didn't even mention it so I am going to assume she is not concerned at this point.
We have a busy weekend planned as we head to Richmond tomorrow to tailgate at the Nascar race on Saturday (we are not going to the actual race on Saturday night, just tailgating all day with some good friends). I am very much looking forward to the trip and hope that it doesn't rain too much or get too hot!! I will post an update about the ultrasound tomorrow when I can.
